Hungarian pianist Domonkos Csabay graduated in 2014 from the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. In 2015 he received the scholarship of the Josef Weingarten Trust and started a personal study programme at Birmingham Conservatoire under John Thwaites and Pascal Nemirovski. He has played in masterclasses with artists such as Boris Berman, Itamar Golan and Rita Wagner among others. Competition successes include first prize at the Leo Weiner International Chamber Music Competition in 2013 Budapest, with violinist Bálint Kruppa, 2nd prize for composition at the Carl Filtsch International Piano and Composition Competition in Sibiu (Romania) in 2015, with his own piano piece, Birmingham Conservatoire Piano Prize and the Town Hall/Symphony Hall Recital Prize, 3rd prize in piano solo and first prize in piano accompaniment category in the Welsh International Piano Competition. In 2016 he won Birmingham’s prestigious Amy Brant International Piano Competition. In 2016 he was awarded the prize ‘Junior Prima’ in Hungary.
