Concerto Prize Finalist Yu-Syuan Li

Taiwanese flautist Yu-Syuan Li completed her undergraduate studies at University of Taipei with Sabina Shu-Chun Chiang, and is currently studying for a Master’s degree at Birmingham Conservatoire under Jonathan Rimmer. Yu-Syuan began by playing the piano first then took up the flute at age 11, from which moment she decided her musical future. During this time, Yu-Syuan has attended a variety of famous flute masterclasses, such as William Bennett, Lorna McGhee, Denis Bouriakov, Patricia Surman, Amy Porter, Kitagawa Morio and Veronika Klirova. In 2014, Yu-Syuan participated in 5th Singapore Flute Festival, winning the 1st Prize of the open category and Audience Award. She was also a finalist in the Birmingham Conservatoire Town Hall and Symphony Hall Prize in 2017. Yu-Syuan has a great passion for performing, being actively involved in playing many formal or casual concerts and performances, including flute solo, chamber music, new compositions and in the symphony orchestra.
