Mahler 8 for Beginners

Warm up exercises prior to the mass rehearsal of over 500 members of the Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Choir, University of Birmingham Chorus, and childrens’ choirs from St Peter’s Collegiate Church Wolverhampton together with soloists at Birmingham University on Sunday 28 February. It’s not too late to get tickets for the concert in Symphony Hall on 6 March – now less than a week away!

For first time attendees, the THSH website has prepared a helpful guide on what to expect from Mahler’s Eighth Symphony. If you want an idea of what it will actually sound like, there are several complete performances online – one of the best is probably Leonard Bernstein with the Vienna Philharmonic from 1975.
